This agreement made and entered into this 16 Jany 1866 by and between J G Ballentine of the City of Panola state of Miss of the first part and Dennis his wife Betsey Jeff and his wife Catherine and Dennis's children, Charity and her children Violet and Rosalee, and [[strikethrough]] Harriet. Of the same city and state of the second part, Witnesseth that the party of the first part agrees to furnish to the party of the second part fifteen (15) acres to the hand or as near that amt as can be guessed at, horses or mules, harness (with the exception of collars), ploughs; feed for the mules or horses, cotton seed to plant, which cotton seed no amt will be refunded to him by the party of the second part at the end of the year 1866 - The ground to be cultivated as follows (viz nine (9) acres in Cotton and six (6) in Corn. For which cultivation the said party of the second agree to receive and accept as full as full compensation for all labor done one half (1/2) of the cotton and one third (1/3) of the corn raised on said ground mentioned above. And it is further agreed by the party of the second part in any case they shall in any manner or form
