quarters, medical attendance when necessary & kind & humane treatment, and when the under signed laborers have faithfully complied with the terms of this agreement as hands on said plantation, said  Harris agrees to pay them for their services for receiving the year 1866 one fourth part of the cotton crop grown on said plantation - they furnishing bagging ropes for their fourth part & the heads of families furnishing clothing for those of their children & dependents who do not labor - said Harris to feed them -
In witness whereof the parties to this agreement have herewith set their proper hands & works-

It is further understood & agreed that the laborers are to have the half of each Saturday, & if the employer or manager should require works the whole day, the time to be returned as soon as it can be conveniently spared
