Yazoo County I - MP Cheatham have this day hired Milly Painner and her two children Melissa and Willis as two hands to work on my farm She agrees to make a good hand in the farm and to make her children do the work of a good hand and obey all orders given by me or any one actting [[strikethrough]] for me [[/strikethrough]] in my place to treat all stock intrusted to their care humanely. She agrees to cultivate five acres of corn and ten of cotton to the house and assist in working all the patches necessary for the use of the farm and doing all repairs necessary to keep the farm in good order. I am to furnish her and children 10 1/2 lbs of bacon or salt pork or 24 lbs of fresh beef and three pecks of corn meal per week and give her one third and her children one third of the cotton made to the hand on my farm She agrees to furnish herself & children in clothing and pay all doctors bills and taxes. The term of Service to commence on the first day of January A.D 1866 and end on the first day of January A.D 1867 To which both parties here affix our names and Seals this third day of January A.D 1866
