Agreement entered into between Mrs L.O. Burrus and Freedwoman Emma on this the 1st day of January 1866
1st Emma agrees to wash iron and do house work for the family of Mrs Burrus
2nd In case of illness of the white or black family Emma agrees to perform any necessary duty arising under the circumstances 
3rd Mrs Burrus promises to pay said Emma eight Dollars ($8) per month, give her house room, for self, husband and child, a reasonable amount of fuel food for self and child, and attention in illness of self or child.
4th Agreed by Mrs Burrus that Emma can draw her pay by the month, if so desired.
5th All loss of time arising from sickness or other hindrances deducted from her wages.
6th Emma agrees not to leave the lot without permission of Mrs Burrus unless on Sunday afternoons.
7th Mutually agreed between Mrs Burrus and said Emma that this contract is to continue until 1st of January 1867
