Agreement With Freedmen
This agreement made and entered into this the 1st day of January 1866 by and between Charles W. Boyd of the town of Yazoo City County of Yazoo and State of Mississippi party of the first part and the undersigned freedmen parties of the second part Witnesseth that for the purpose of labouring for and performing any duty required by Said party of the first part So far as the Same may be compatable with reason in the town of Yazoo or County of Yazoo in Said State of Mississippi during the year of 1866 and ending on the 31st day of December 1866 the Said party of the first part for and in consideration of the covenants and agreements of the Said parties of the Second part herein after contained Covenant and agree to pay to the Said parties of the Second part the amounts of money set opposite their respective names, the said parties of the first part also agree to furnish to Said freedmen parties of the Second part during their continuance to labor and for the time above specified free of charge good and Sufficient quarters and fuel, to see that the premises thus furnished are kept in a good Sanitary condition to furnish the freedmen parties of the Second part free of charge full substancial [substantial] and healthy rations, to exact only a reasonable amount of Labor except in cases of necessity comeing in the regular course of business or other [[strikethrough]] wise [[/strikethrough]] unavoidable occurance [occurence] 
and in consideration of the Faithful performance by the said parties of the first part of all the obligations
