An Agreement & Contract
Made the days and dates annexed by & between J.C Banks party of the first & the within named Freedmen & Freedwomen of the second part, all of the County of Lowndes & State of Mississippi.
The said parties of the first part, for the purpose of cultivating the plantation known as the "Post Oak" & such Place ten miles east of Columbus, agree to furnish quarters, good & sufficient food as heretofore to laborers; in addition to give One third (1/3) of the cotton grown & stored in said plantation, & One half (1/2) of the Corn & fodder after deducting Corn & fodder for supplying the said plantation for 1867, to the same amount that is consumed in 1866; also deducting from net proceeds of said crops all the current expenses of the plantations, such as [[strikethrough]] [[illegible]] [[/strikethrough]], bagging, rope, manager's wages, & e & c, the support & subsistence of dependents will be at the charge of the Laborers.
The said party of the second part for themselves & families   - agree to well & faithfully perform any & all labor that the said parties of the first or their agents may require of them for the year 1866. It is further agreed that the Rules first attached be made a part of this Contract – It is further agreed that the said Laborers be divided into classes as follows, to wit

Each Laborer is to receive his or her part of crop, according to classification – The classification is to be made upon Tasks; when Laborer does not perform work assigned to one class, he or she is to be reduced to an inferior Class. The Manager alone is to be the judge of the
