Jan. 8th 1866
The following contract has been made between J. H. Sharp and the freedmen whose names are subscribed.
I  This contract is from the year 1866.
II  J. H. Sharp agrees to furnish a sufficient number of weeks to work his plantation; to furnish forages for the same; and to provide all necessary farming utensils except axes.
III  In consideration of the promise herein made and below set forth, J. H. Sharp promises and agrees to give to the freedmen one third (1/3) of the crop raised and gathered by them. Further [[?]] above, specifies he is to be at no expense.
IIII.  In consideration of the above promise and agreement on the part of J. H. Sharp, the freedmen promise and agree to work on the plantation of J. H. Sharp and diligently and faithfully to perform the work required of them. They further promise, and agree to behave with respect towards J. H. Sharp, his family, and agent.
V  This is agreed to be an entire contract for the year 1866.
