Contract and Agreement between Rebecca Winston of the County of Lowndes and State of Mississippi of the first part and the Freedman Mack Winston of the second part (a boy fifteen or sixteen years of age). The party of the first part agrees to pay the part of the second part five dollars a month for the year beginning on the first day of January 1866 and ending on the first day of January 1867. And also to furnish comfortable quarters, good and sufficient food, medical attendance and instruction on reading and in the scriptures.  The party of the second part agrees to furnish his own clothes, to perform good and faithful work, of all kinds that may be required of him. To be respectful and obedient at all times, and when entire days are lost from any cause to have deductions made covering value of wages.  The party of the second part also agrees to forfeit all wages if he abandons the service of the party of the second part, at any time during the year, without just cause and to be punished in a just kind and humans manner if his conduct should deserve it
