This agrement made and entered into by & between Andrew L Shotwell of Tunica. Co. Miss of the first part and the free colored people hereunto subsisting of the second part for the year 1866 beginning from date and ending 1st day of January 1867.
Witnesseth that for the purpose of cultivating fencing cleaning up and otherwise improving the place known as the Shotwell place in Tunica Co & state of Miss and making such improvements & buildings as are needful or necessary for a plantation or such work as is done on plantations at different times through the year 1866. When the time can be spared without injury to the crop. the party of the first part and the parties of the second part do hereby mutually agree that the party of the first part is to furnish free of charge land houses mules farming utensils & corn to feed the team free of charge. and is to furnish meal meat flour sugar coffee & clothing & medicines & medical attendance but these necessaries are to be paid for our of their portions of the crop at the end of the year 1866 Hands hiring by the day month or year payable 1st January 1867.
