This is to Certify that a Contract has been entered into between Carter Johnson Henry. Lewis. Isac. Williams. Alford Morgan. Mary. Johnson. Natha & Mary daughters of Mary Johnson, Adelia Morgan of the first part & Nathaniel A. Bettis of the Second part whereas the party of the party of the first part binds themselves to perform faithfully all labor that is necessary to make a crop of cotton on my farm situated in Coahoma County Miss There wages to commence from the time they arrive at my farm. The party of the first part are to loose all lost time from the time they arrive at my farm at my farm to the 31st day of Dec—1866. Also the party of the first part are to furnish their own clothes & Pay there Doctor bills in case of bad Sickness. Whereas in & for the above consideration the party of the part of the Second part binds himself to pay the men of the first part at the rates of $200.00 two hundred dollars per year & furnish them with one acre of land each to be planted in Cotton. Also the party of the Second part binds himself to pay to the women of the first part at the rates of $60.00 Sixty dollars per year commencing from the time they arrive at my farm to the 31st of Dec 1866. Also to furnish them with half acre of land each to be planted in Cotton. Also the party of the Second part binds himself to furnish the party of the first part a sufficient quantity of good and wholesom food wood and Comfortable Quarters. Also the above wages to be paid before the crop is disposed of.
