This agreement between F.P & C C Chambers of the County of Sunflower & State of Miss, of the first part and Quash Havens freedman at present of same County & State

Witnesseth; That the said party of the second part agrees to labor as a plantation hand for the year 1866 for the following consideration & upon the following terms to wit; The sum of 180.00$ for one year & medical attention, himself loosing time while sick, wholesome food in sufficient quantity say four pounds of good bacon & on peck Meal per week Said Chambers to furnish comfortable quarters & not to require any labor at night or on the Sabbath day except in cases of absolute necessity & to furnish three suits of clothing at cost of delivery, wages only due & payable at the close of the year. But said Quash may draw on his wages for Luxuries such as Sugar Coffee Molasses flour Tobacco &c which article Said Chambers agrees to Keep on hand & furnish at as reasonable rate as can be had elsewhere in the County. This privilege however not to reach beyond one half the wages Said Quash further binds himself to be a faithful industrious honest obedient & quiet hand & to forfeit his entire wages if he leave his employer before the close of his engagement.
