GAMBLE and Co., Stationers, Cherry Street, Nashville, Tenn. FREEDMAN'S CONTRACT Know all Men by these Presents, That I, H. O Rand of the County of Tunica State of Mississippi Party of the first part, am held and firmly bound in the sum of Six hundred Dollars, for the payment of which I bind myself Heirs, Executors and Administrators, firmly. by these Presents, in this CONTRACT: That I am to furnish the laborers whose signatures appear below, (freed laborers,) Quarters, Fuel substantial and healthy Rations, and the amount set opposite their respective names per month, during which the continuation of this Contract the laborers to be paid in full before the final disposal of the crop which is to be raised by them on my plantation, in the County of Tunica State of Mississippi. We the undersigned, free laborers, parties of the second part, agree to work faithfully for the said H.O. Rand obeying all his instructions, in good faith, and in event we leave his service before the expiration of this Contract, (provided we are not driven off or maltreated,) we are to forfeit all wages due to us at the time of so leaving.
