Office of Supt Fr. Schs, Ark.
Little Rock Ark July 16, 1866

Dear Sir:

Thanks for School Reports which reached me July 9th. I was obliged to make my Report before that date and was under the necessity of using your May Reports for June.

I am highly gratified at the Evidence of healthful progress in your leading schools.

In my Report I designate the Schools in Helena and vicinity as follows: "No. 1," "No. 2," "Orphan Home," "Block House," "Hubbard," "Payne," "Ft Penney."

In future reports please give names to No. 1 & No. 2 and any others not named above.

At a convenient time please instruct the teachers:

1. To fill every blank in the Report with the appropriate number or word. If there is no number or word to be written then make a "0" or a "----" in the blank

2. To report earlier. If the School month extend to, or beyond, the last day of the calendar month it should not delay the report which Should in all cases be in the hands of the Supt by the 30" of each month.

Be so kind as to assist the teacher (if necessary) in verifying the enrollment So as to make the report consistent throughout; and also in Supplying any omissions which you may notice, Such as date, name & c.

School Report blanks are in The hands of the printer, and will be sent you. You will observe that the Same blank will answer for a "retain copy" Several months.

I Am, dear Sir,
Very truly Yours,
Nw M Colby
