Sir:
I am this day in receipt of a letter from Mr. Shipherd, dated the 17th, in which he says:
"If Mr. Hervy will execute a contract on our blanks and deposit one copy with Maj. Thibaut and another at this office, and will accept and comfortably provide for a mature competent lady teacher, we will send one. We despair of finding competent men."
"Concerning Lewisville; if the Bureau will guarantee protection to a competent mature lady teacher and notify us promptly, we will send one."
I suggest that these terms be accepted at once - it is the best we can do.
