General Sir: I have the honor to enclose herewith monthly report of teachers on duty and entitled to purchase commissary supplies for month of Feb'y 1868. Sir: I have the honor to request authority to visit Camden Ark. in the interest of schools. I wish to assist in the organization of the freedmen school there and to make a personal inspection of a building and grounds previous to recommending an appropriation for a school building at that place. General: I have recently been in correspondence with parties at Hot Springs who referred that the freedmen revived their school there the first of the present month with an old gentleman by the name of Hezakiah Roberts as their teacher, (who is represented to be competent) and they ask sufficient aid to cover the rental of a school room. Assuming these statements to be true I would ask that the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) a month be granted them to pay rent payable to Donald L. Moore - While a competent teacher is employed and reports of the School duly made to this office. Payment of rent to commence February 1, 1868.
