Clark Calvin
Helena, Ark.

Dear Sir,
It is reported to me that the teachers of the Helena Union School expect to close School and return North in May. I trust this is not so. The same thing was done last year very much to my disappointment and chagrin and wholly without my knowledge; although the merest business courtesy would seem to require that I should be notified of such an unexpected move.
that there may be a perfect understanding of the matter I write to say that I shall expect the school kept open - extraordinaries excepted -till the 26th of June the present year.
Other parties stand ready to occupy the building and I shall feel constrained to invite them to do so if the Friends can not keep the school open to the end of each school year.
Respectfully & truly yours.

Sir,
I have the honor respectfully to state that your monthly School report should be forwarded to this office and not to Washington D.C.
If you will apply to Rev. E.K. Miller, Agent Am. Miss. Association Little Rock, I think he can secure through the Tract Society or some other Agency Spelling books and other Elementary books, for distribution among the freedmen of your county.
Very respectfully,
Your obedient Servant
