Pine Bluff, Ark.

Dear Sir:

I have yours of the 19" this day & send you the necessary form for teacher's reports - see [[?working]] on one of the blanks, the essential questions. Please give no. of male and female pupils as provided for in the blanks.

Blanks were forwarded you some months ago & also a school register which you might find useful in making these reports. If teachers are not advised in Chicago of their relations to the Education Dept. of the Freedmans Bureau I suppose no person can attack to them for nonperformance of duty.

I am aware that your school is a free school so are all others taught by A.M.A. teachers in Ark but they could not be had not this office located & built the houses and the [[?lodges]] in season and out of season with the State & local school office to make them free schools.

Wishing you abundant success.

I am very respectfully
Wm M Colby

Transcription Notes:
I think we might need to remove see and just add working, it doesn't look like there's a see at least to me. The lodges part seems correct though.
