Greensboro N.C. Aug 18" 1865. 

Know all men by these that we John Calhoun of Gilford Co. State of North Carolina and Nereus Knight of Gilford Co. State of North Carolina and Asa Knight of Gilford Co. State of North Carolina are held and firmly bound unto Capt Asa Teal. Asst Supt Freedmen Dist of Greensboro in the sum of Three hundred Dollars, to be paid to Capt Asa Teal, Asst Supt Freedmen (or his successor in Office) for the benefit of the Bureau of Refugees and Freedmen. to which payment well and truly to be made, we do bind ourselves and each of us, for and in the whole, our and each of our heirs, executers and Administrators jointly and severally by these presents signed with our seals and dated Aug 18", 1865

The condition of this obligation is such that if the above John Calhoon and Nereus Knight shall keep the peace of the good people of Gilford County State of North Carolina for the term of Two (2) years, then this obligation to be void and of no effect or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
