Office of Asst. Supt. Freedmen. Greensboro, N.C. Nov. 15.1865. Before me. Asa Seal, Capt. and Agent for Freedmen, District. Greensboro State of North Carolina was arraigned and tried Andy Wright (Freedmen) on the following charges to wit; Petty Larceny: The charges bring read to Dept, and he plead as follows; Evidence for Prosecution; Mr R.J. Apple, a citizen of Rockingham County, State of North Carolina. After being duly Sworn, Deposeth and says that on or about the 1st day of October 1865, a Saddle belonging to Samuel Apple was taken from his house and taken to the house of John Chamberlin, Living some (2) two miles distant, And about (3) three weeks after the time I Missed the Saddle I found the skirts of the Saddle at the shop of John Charmberlin, Said John Chamberlin is a Shoe Maker, the other part of the Saddle was found in the road near my father's house; when the skirts was applied to the Saddle they fited exactly, I know they are the same skirts that was cut off my father's Saddle.
