Our windows are white with frost & thermometer was 15° above this morning early, wind blowing a gale. I hope you are not having this change. yesterdays temperature was very mild. we have had these sudden changes all winter but in spite of them we have not had any colds & dont mean to.

Mrs Barrys sister is down to Florida & she writes they are having it 80° down there things are not evenly divided you see in this world. I guess Mamie Kate would like to be there she likes hot weather but not me, give me a northern climate every time I like the changes & am looking forward to the signs of spring, birds coming north & frogs leaping although I have grown deaf & cant hear them nowadays. I dont like this wind, hope it goes down. guess I will have to go up into the front chamber & sew on my last slip. We got the little valentines Doris sent & appreciated her kindness very much in sending them, they were very pretty & also appropriate, we thought. thanks a lot Mrs Barry sent hers late, but guess, it got there about the right time after all. she thought hers was qute [[cute]] & appreciated it very much she always liked little Doris. Jackie McGarvey seems all right this winter, he goes to school every day right through our door yard as independant as his father ever was who saw Mrs Barry clear to the door last Sunday night. but she said there was no need of it, as she had her flashlight. Mrs Barry says tell Doris to go & see "the Great Waltz" it is very beautiful in [[illegible]] its just been here
