Dear Folks

We are having winter. thanksgiving day was cloudy but it began to snow about eight O'clock & kept it up all night & the wind blew a regular gale, so that when we got up in the morning everything was snowed in and terribly cold. I managed to get the porch swept off after making the fire & a path swept for the postman in time for him to bring in our mail. your letter and her sisters grand daughters letter telling how they were in the hospital, they are bad enough, but nothing dangerous. they are having every care, a day & night nurse & have got to remain there a week sure, before they will be fit to leave.

We had a very good thanksgiving a nice young turkey and turnip, onions, squash & celery, pudding, mince pie, squash pie, & cranberry sauce. last but not least cider. Lena said it was the best dinner she ever eat & she throughly did it justice, had two helpings which proved it. she brought us some homemade chocolate taffy & ginger root & we had a dish of dates. so every thing went off
