in good taste, Kate Dykeman had sent me a big box of chrysanthemums, as she does every xmas & thanksgiving. so I felt pretty lucky.

The Bruces told me they were satisfied in having me put in the tank. she has not got home yet from her sisters, when she does I am going to take it up with her. [[Lindelof?]] brought me the bill for the tank which I settled. it came to $16.70—he said nothing about the other. the old pipe was iron & they could not get much water out of it, clogged with rust. the same as they do always, so I suppose they put in the bad one I will never settle with her the next time she comes here. they owe $14 on the old bill. they have lived there 22 years & the old woman says "they will be living there long after I pass on". hope they do. they are not so bad afte all. Lena said she remembered how Pa put in their cesspool and how it cost eighty dollars.

I am not doing much for xmas this year as I cant got to get things my presents will have to be as usual home made & few & far between, so hope you will do likewise. our hurrycane took the wrong time & hope we dont have it repeated. I thought it was last night. but report says warmer tomorrow. so hope you are warmer & dont have the snow storm. boys here are sleeping today.
