Stoughton October 3rd 1938

Dear Folks

We are having cooler weather nights & mornings but sunny days are still here. yesterday Mamie Kate was here she stayed to dinner.

Carrara came early to clear up the branches that hung over the drive way at the old place. they were big as a persons body & very dangerous if they fell on you. he says he will clear up the orchard in front for ten dollars. & burn the brush. he is a good hand keeps at his job steady & understands & fitted for the work. back of the house there are a few trees one hangs over on land between us & the Trollope house & few in our grove, near McGarveys

I thought the town would take that tree on the side walk that the limb fell on the wire, but no it fell on us our land the same on Winnies the town refused to take that, so she had to bear the expense she said.

I am sorry the expense is great for some worse than others, its hard to get any one as every body wants theirs done & Cararra came early to me & offered to do the work so I thought he was sent by the Lord & was
