Stoughton Oct 8thm 1938

Dear Folks,
The Day begins cloudy with promise of a storm, yesterday was a perfectly sunny day as we call it a wealth [[?]] I am getting the trees cut down gradually, ones to the old place. He has got permission to burn the bush after a rain, but has not quite finished with the trimming ugh, a good many branches hang over the highway, that will have to be seen to, otherwise they might fall on autoes passing on the street. 
I hope never to see  another such a wind. Those who had nothing to lose, can make light of such things or in other words, "those who know nothing fear nothing." Alice for instance seemed to enjoy herself. She walked up in the dark with wires down and nothing to fear. Such people take the most comfort they don't seem to worry. She cheered me up and I forgot the for the time being. I was always timid in danger how with [[never?]] and those are the first to give out now in my old age I seemed to be dreading something
