who can wait on Mamie & furnish her meals. hope she gets along with her all right, but she will always miss her old home & Eldon whome she never appreciated so that was the reason he was taken. 

I am writing this letter so it will be taken when the mail man comes, he gets here early Saturdays. a fire in the kitchen stove to day seems good such changes in temperature are what we have had so far all the year & last night the sky over head looked like a fire & I thought it was one it lighted up the porch so.

The Ballentines have gone away to stay the week end so want us to put their milk on our ice to keep for them. Gertrude is having trouble with her leg where she fell down stairs a year ago & neuritis in the other one in trying to favor it. she has begun to give out early in life poor thing Addie is the smart one & she does all the work & is good at every thing, makes all the clothes coats & all fancy work, painting. she can do any thing I wish you could see some of her paintings lilacs they are very hard to do. she sells lots of them. I hope you are not roasting still, but it wont last very much longer this year I hope. Ma Lena is having lots of trouble with her arm.
