Stoughton June 29th 1938

Dear Folks

Our storm still continues, it began Sunday. forenoon, an awful change in temperature & we are apt to feel the affects of it when it comes upon us so sudden. four days of such downpours is out of reason. I hope it clears soon. I am all alone, she had a chance to go with Careta to see Laura this afternoon & means to come home early they took their dinner at some eating place, so they started around one O'clock.

I have just called up Anna & she says Henry moved into a small house in West Stoughton down the lane below Consider Southworths & there is a sign out at Ralphs house, it says for sale, so guess they are in need of more money. he has always been used to having money to spend freely & now he has a family on his hands will have to get used to less spending. Maude is not an old woman but was never used to either work or economy. & with Henrys drinking habits it may come pretty hard all around. hope they dont have any more children right away. if they do some one will have to help support their family I fear.

Transcription Notes:
Careta, not Loreta. She has been mentioned in other letters.
