out of repair & needed so much to be done to it she took the next house the Jock Capen house & paid cash. it is too bad Maudes house is in such a condition. they will never sell it now, it smells to heaven of the that toilet. the same as his shore cottage. her diet is what has made her blind, one eye. she is not the one to take care of little children. I wonder how Florence can stand such slovenly ways, she always looks neat.

I took ice yesterday & we are going to have griddle cakes for our dinner. she is stirring them up now. we have got to get rid of some sour milk.

yesterday was a very nice day so I put in my screens into the dining room windows. I had already got them in up stairs. the windows down in the sitting room have got to be washed before they can be screened lucky we have a window brush.

Her sister Josephine is visiting down in Washington & on her way home, she is coming here to visit Blanche for a day or two. Mamie Kate is very poorly & is having hard times with a buzzing in her head it nearly drives her crazy, she's in need of much sympathy but I am afraid theres not many who feel like giving her much from the way she treated poor Eldon. lots of people dont go there. they dont like the Capens. Ma that also plagues her. "chickens come home to roost"
