| April 28 101 | Whittelsey Henry M. AAA General | Washington D.C. Apr. 18 1870. States that upon the recommendation of Supt Wm. M. Colby, the Am. Miss. Association and yourself (Capt. S.W. Mallory) the commission will make an appropriation  of $6000. for a normal school  at Pine Bluff. The Commission hopes that Mr. Mallory will be able as stated in his endorsements, to secure a like amount of state aid.|Continuation Pine Bluff Ark April 25, 1870. Respectfully returned to Gen. Whittelsey through the office Dept. Education at Little Rock & of the Am. Miss Association at Chicago. I would earnestly and respectfully recommend the appropriation of the within named amount. Etc. Respectfully returned to Mr. Mallory with the information that the several portions mentioned within have already recommended the appropriation allowed to and it will be made when a copy of the deed to the school site is furnished.
