States that the Freemen Schools in N.O. & Algiers are in excellent condition in every respect.
Also that the Asst. Com for La. appointed five agents in Feby last to canvass the parishes - converse with planters and freedmen - to ascertain suitable sites for schools that will accommodate several plantations - and make report to Asst. Coms. As the result of this action many schools will be opened during next two months.
