On returning from our trip South last August, Jos. Dickinson and myself were informed that thou had called at the office, to see what arrangement could be made for the coming year. I immediately went back to Indianapolis to see thee, but found that thou had gone North - 
I afterwards received a kind letter from thee stating what enquiries thou had made, and what thou wished to know - The Yearly Meeting was at that time just coming on, the Committee had made various alterations in their mode of carrying on the work for the Freedmen, and we were anxious to know whether the plan met its approval or not, if it did we expected to make this a permanent arrangement. The Yearly Meeting held in October directed $16000.00 to be raised by the Quarterly Meetings instead of recommending a larger sum and we are now ready to supply
