Sir,
I have the honor to furnish for your information the following extract from the report of Bt. Maj. Thibaut, Genl. Supt. &c, at Washington, Ark.
"In regard to schools I have the honor to state, that the work on the School building is going forward and the freedmen are determined that the work shall be completed. Some of the material is already on the ground, the lumber is being got out, and will be delivered in a few days. The bill for materials will amount to about $400.00 the amount already collected by the freedmen amounts to about [[?$15/00/100.]] The freedmen are not able to complete the work alone but must if possible have some aid from the Government, which we hope to get.
"And when the building shall have been completed and a good school in opperation, the results will indeed by great; both in fitting the freedmen for the responsibilities of life and in changing
