I am directed by the Assistant Commissioner to furnish you with the following extract from the monthly report of Lieut H. F. Willis. Superintendent at Paraclifta, Sevier County; for January 1867, with direction to procure the teachers as soon as practicable, and communicate with Lieut Willis on this subject.

"Dr. W.A Hawkins. Mr. Clayton and Porter Andrews have each a large gang of hands and colored children, and are desirous that teachers should be sent at the earliest opportunity to commence a school on each place, where they will provide and board a teacher at their own expense.
