I have the honor to furnish for your information the following extract from the report of Lieut S. Hersey Superintendent of Luna Landing. Chicot County.
"As yet there are no schools established in the County, but several planters promise to start schools on their plantations. There are no buildings to be used as school-houses. If funds could be applied to putting up a suitable building, I believe a public school could be organized with fifty or sixty scholars in the neighborhood."
