Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
For Missouri Arkansas and Indian Territory,
Office of Gen'l Supt. of Schools.
Little Rock, Ark. March 7, 1867.

1st Lieut John Tyler,
A.A.A. General,
Little Rock, Ark.

Lieutenant,
I have the honor to enclose herewith for consideration of the Asst Com. (with request that the same be returned to this office if consistent) copy of letter of Judge Wright to Maj. Gen. O.O. Howard, Commissioner, Gen'l Howard's endorsement thereon to Rev. J. R. Shipherd, Sec'y of Am. Miss. Association, and endorsement thereon by the latter to Rev. E. K. Miller, Asst, Sup't of Schools.
It is respectfully suggested that there is sufficient force in this office "to explore the region" without the aid of a special agent. An order to inspect westward will be asked for next week.
Very Respectfully &c.
Wm. M. Colby
Gen'l Supt of Schools, Ark.
