Major
I have the honor herewith to transmit report of Freedmens School of this place for the month of April.

The shool is in a very flourishing condition. The scollars are learning very fast and are all well pleased with Mr. Hare, but owing to the fact That most all the children about this place That attend school have no fathers and their mother but receiving small salaries owing That they have large families and requiring mostly all their earning to clothe the children They are not able to pay the Tuition fees, make the salary of the teacher very small.

Hoping to make a much more favorable report next mont.

I remain
Very Resptfully
