Sir,
I am directed by the Assistant Commissioner to furnish for your information, the following extracts in relations to schools, from the reports of the Agents for the month of April.
Lieut, S. Hersey, Agent at Luna Landing reports: "Upon several plantations there has been a wish expressed for schools, I have so far been unable to obtain suitable teachers. Could there be teachers provided I think I could establish a few schools. Mr. J. M. Craig on Leland plantation would provide recommendations for a teacher and he thinks five or six hundred dollars for year could be easily raised as a salary there being about fifty children on the place, Mr J. F.
