Bureau R.F. & A.L. for Chicot Co. Arkansas
Office of Supt. Luna Landing. Ark. May 21st 1867

Wm. M. Colby
Genl School Supt.
Little Rock. Arkansas.

Sir

In relation to establishing a school at Luna I have the honor to inform you that at present owing to the high water, a suitable place for a school house cannot very well be had where many could be accomodated but I have a prospect of getting a site about a mile from this landing near old river Lake which will accomodate children from four large plantations. I have lately had two applications for Teachers. On Yellow Bayou Plantation & Leland, both within 3 1/2
miles. Where a teacher will be well treated and have tolerable accommodations. a male Teacher is preferred. The compensation on either place will be $50.00 per month.

I am very respectfully,
Your obt servt
S. Hersey
