Princeton Arks Aug 4th 1867

Mr M Colby

Sir, I received your Circular report of Education for June 1867 from which I learned for the first time who the Superintendent for Education was in the absence of the proper information. I have addressed Genl Ord on the subject of your great need of schools in this county and of the inability of the Colored People to get the thing underway without help. We can get a sufficient number of student in Princeton and vicinity to start a good school if we can have the proper help to enable us to get started. We need a house to teach in and Teachers to conduct the school properly. There is a good building just on the edge of Town that can be bought for about $500,00 if thought advisable to do so please let me hear from at an early day. and advise me what course to persue to put this thing in appropriation as early as possible

Respectfully your obt sevt GW Mallett Supt &c
Dallas County Arkansas
