Dear Sir

I am in receipt of yours of the 19th inst and in reply beg leave to state that over one hundred names were placed on record as desiring to attend a school that there are about five hundred colored citizens in this county who have a deed in fee to one acre of land at this place.  As yet they have done nothing towards raising funds to pay for a church and school-house though they have very generally promised to contribute in labor or money.  They have been holding a Sabbath school which is quite generally attended and until lately have had a day school.

As yet I have been unable to see the trustees absence on the Circuit having prevented me from doing so as well as delayed my answer to your
