Supt Education
Little Rock Ark

Dear Sir

I have the honor herewith to transmit my report for the month of Oct 1867. As Bro Miller was here and inspected the school I do not deem it necessary to make this letter lengthy. The future I think looks hopeful, The citizens who attended the dedication of the house, express themselves agreeably surprised at the progress we are making. I think a better spirit is beginning to exert a good influence among the good citizens of the place which the future will more fully develop. I have been appointed Registrar in Lafayette County since Merrick resigned, as it was just on the eve of election and it was thought impossible to find any one to fill the place in time should I not serve, and as it would perhaps only detain me a week, I concluded upon consultation with the trustees to accept, and will therefore be absent the coming week. As soon as I return I intend preparing a full report for the entire time I have been at this place for your office and for Brother Shipherd, which I shall forward as soon as completed.

Very Respectfully
Your Obdt Servt
David. C. Casey
