and it fully compensates me for all the sacrifices which I have made of personal comforts and worldly pleasures. I hope the other teachers are looking from the right stand-point and are actuated alone from pure philanthropy. Oh! we do need teachers here who possess that lofty and enobling quality of the soul that will lift them above the degraded and vicious characters that compose the mass of this land of darkness  I regrett that some of those who came with me proved of so little real use. I thought it such a pity that Mr Howard should have to go just for the want of proper support. Those poor people at Ft Smith do need instructing so much. I see I must close, please give my kindest regards to my acquaintances with my best wishes that we may all succeed in the good work of the Lord.
