Little Rock, Arkansas.
Dear Sir, I have the honor to state, that I have made arrangements for freedmen's schools at the following places: 1st At Major P.J. Andrew on the Hawkins Plantation Little River County Arkansas. 2nd on the plantation of James M. Coulter in Red Colony Sevier County Arkansas. 3d on the plantation of David R. Coulter in Black Colony Sevier County, at every one of these places there will be good facilities for supporting a large and flourishing school, and all parties are much interested in their welfare. Contracts for labor for the ensuing year have been made at each place and with the express understanding that the employer is to board and provide a room for teacher and schoolhouse, and the employees to pay at least $30.00 per month for teacher. The planters desire a lady teacher at the places as each has a family of his own.
I will have the missionary contract signed by both parties in my next visit to the plantations.
Very Respectfully
Hiram F Willis
