Hon Wm. M. Colby
Supt Education
Little Rock Ark.
Dear Sir
I have the honor to forward herewith my monthly school report for December 1867. How successful I have been is not my province to determine in this letter, It affords me pleasure to say that I am satisfied with the result, In this connection I desire to return to you my warmest thanks for your kindness & courtesy and also Bro Miller. I am also under many obligations to Mayor Thibaut for his kindness & efficient aid in the difficult and arduous duties of the school. In closing the labors of year I would not to return my humble thanks to the Great Ruler of the universe whose guardian care and protection has shielded me from the dangers that so thickly beset my path way. May his almighty wisdom protect, defend and guide us through the labors of the new year and may success crown our efforts to his honor & glory
