Mr.Colby,
Mr. Casey wishes me to write a few words in regard to the school as he has not time. Since writing you last week we have a slight increase in numbers and I am happy to say have very few cases of tardiness this week. The colored people learn much more readily than I had dared to hope from what I had heard. We have very few really dull scholars in school and I enjoy teaching them quite as much as any pupils I had in the north.
In my letter of last week I forgot to mention that M.C. returned the note to you which you gave me for Maj. Thibaut.
