The white members of the Congregation are willing to relinquish all claim to the building for the cause of five hundred dollars.
It could then be repaired and used by the freedmen as a church and also as a schoolhouse, until one can be erected.
Several persons have agreed to donate lots to the Freedmen for school purposes - provided a neat school house is erected thereon.
I have been informed to-day that Dr. E.R. Duval will give them a deed to two lots in his addition to the city provided a school house is erected thereon.  These lots are conveniently located. 
The colored people here, are all very poor - even poorer than they were last year and I see no chance for any improvement. I would therefore respectfully recommend, that the sum of five hundred dollars be donated them obtain entire control of their church building-provided they repair it  thoroughly. I think they could do this as there are several colored mechanics who could contribute their labor and the remainder could purchase the material.
I would also respectfully recommend that a school house be erected in this city at once
