To William M Colby Little Rock Arkansas I have seen the letter you wrote to Mr Moor in which you send you would allow ten dollars for another colerd Shool in this place there is much need of one they are sadly demoralized one would think to see and hear them ther is scarcely one that can speall and pronounce I am competent for one year at least they could then do their own business they are not able to sustain a School to pay rent and teacher wages we ask you to add five or ten dollars more I shall then have to board myself in cheapes manner the freedmen because for this place Should continue one year longer to make much progress and I will do the best I can
Yours Respectfully Hezekiah Roberts
