I can assure you I have had to work to tame them down, they were entierly without cultivation.

I have received a package of the little paper called "The Freedman" and have distributed them to those who could read, or knew of some one that would read it to them, Lieut. Willis was here one week ago and I told him what I had written to you & asked him how it was understood.  He said "I will tell you, as I did Miss Getman, that her salary is to be $30.00 per month. $15.00 from the A.M. Association & $15.00 from the Freedmen." Lieut.
