Camden Arks
March 31st, 1868

Hon W.M. Colby
Dear Sir
Enclosed you will please find my school report for month ending March 31st, 1868 I could not avoid having a vacation of one week to assist in the elections. No one could be found to serve as clerk of the civil Board so I was pressed into the service. We had a very romantic tour, fared sumptuously on Buttermilk and corn Dodgers every day and had some better experience in swimming Bayous creeks &c.
You will see by my report that I have as many scholars as I can well manage
