School is progressing finely. I have an average now of about thirty five, and assure you of increased interest on the part of both pupils and teacher. I closed the evening school a week since; it did not seem advisable to continue it longer these short evenings and the weather so warm. Lt. Miller strongly urged me to discontinue it some time ago.

Major Andrus has engaged a house in Rocky and will go there soon to spend the summer months. It is considered very healthy in the hills and it is useless to argue that it can be here in Red River bottom during the hot weather with the many overflows we have
