what they were, when I took charge. I have the satisfaction to know, that I have tried to do the best I could. Some of the freedmen shed many tears, when I bid them farewell. They all place so much confidence in what I say to them.    Mr. & Mrs Casey are very well and seem to be happy, they are well suited to each other. I think.
I am satisfied that the weather here is a good many degrees warmer than we have in Wis.
I am almost impatient to visit home, since I have started, the days seem long, to be detained.
